Josh & Julie Stuff

The story of how Josh and I met isn’t very exciting or interesting, but it’s still a great story because it led us to where we are today.
Back in 2006 I had a friend/roommate named Alyson who was dating a guy named Kyle. Alyson would come home from Kyle’s house and tell me about his roommate who was so funny and so cute. I was, of course, interested but every time she would invite me over to meet him I was unavailable or had just gotten ready for bed or something. Bad timing. She urged me for probably two months to come and meet him, and finally one Sunday afternoon after church we decided to stop by and pop in. When we walked in the first person I saw standing there was my Josh, only I didn’t know at the time that he would be my Josh. He was still in his white shirt and slacks from church and looked very handsome. He showed me around the apartment, as it was my first time visiting, and then a bunch of us spent the afternoon talking and laughing. And Josh certainly did make me laugh. Alyson was right about him, and I was kicking myself for not having made a point of coming over to meet him sooner. I could tell he liked me too by the way he treated me and tried to be near me. So I was very pleased, but not very surprised, when he called me to ask me out a few days later.
Our first date was to the rodeo with a big group of people. Afterward we went to Charlie’s for ice cream. Josh and I were sort of at the front of this large group, so we were first to order. Josh and some others were busy looking at the different ice cream flavors, but I already knew what I wanted. So I stepped up, ordered, and paid for my own ice cream. Josh noticed what was going on and asked, “What are you doing?!” I don’t know! I got nervous! We were in a huge group of people, some of which were not actually on a date, mind you, and I started to wonder if maybe we were just hanging out. Therefore, maybe I should pay for my own dessert. I don’t know! He was so intimidatingly beautiful to me that I just got too nervous and did something dumb and embarrassing.  Anyway, he was able to use it as an “in” for a second date, because now he owed me ice cream, he said.
So we went out again a couple days later, and then again a couple more days later, and then we were just together every day after that. Within three months we were both deeply in love and he proposed to me at a beautiful setting up Logan Canyon. Three more months went by, and December 16th, 2006 we were married in the Salt Lake City Temple.
